Capitan Crochet Hook – in other words, the Carnival Mask!

Thanks to Atam to translate!!!!

I had been dreaming about creating this tutorial, because the name seems very funny to me!!! So here I am, to explain step-by-step, how to transform your kids (and you too) into small pirates.
You school of whales, are you ready to grab onto your hooks, oops, your crochet hooks???

What you need:
Crochet hooks no.5
Black wool to work with crochet hook no. 5
Grey wool to work with crochet hook no. 5
"Small plastic hook"  (I made mine from the plastic hangers by cutting the part of the hook)
scissors
needle

Procedure:
For the blind fold:
Use the black spun
direct 6 s.c. into the magic circle
1st circle: 6 inc. (12)
2nd circle: *1 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (18)
3rd circle: *2 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (24)
come out with 50 chains and re-enter with 48 s.c lowest ones starting from the 2nd chain
4th circle: 12 s.c., then exit with 50 chains and re-enter with 48 s.c lowest ones starting from the 2nd chain. In this way you would have created the latches for closing the blind fold. Return to work on the circle and do 12 s.c.
Close the work.

For the hook:
use the grey wool.
Direct 5 or 6 s.c. into the magic circle. The width of the coverage of wool depends on your plastic hook: I used a plastic hanger of kids clothing; I broke the excess part and used scotch tape to make the end thicker, in order to make it more homogeneous.
from 1 to x circle: 5 or 6 s.c. (5 or 6) always depending on the spun and the dimensions of the hook.

For the length, please check to have covered it completely.

For the internal handle of the hook:
use the black spun
direct 6 s.c. into the magic circle
1st circle: 6 inc.. (12)
2nd circle: *1 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (18)
3rd circle: *2 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (24)
4th circle: *3 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (30)
5th circle: 30 s.c. (30)
6th circle: *4 s.c; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (36)
7th circle: 36 s.c. (36)
8th circle: *5 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (42)
from 9th to 16th cirle: 42 s.c.  (42)
Close the point and free it.

We will also create the handle for the internal grip:
direct 8 s.c. into the magic circle
from  1st to 12th circle: 8 s.c. (8).
close the point and leave the spun for stitching the handle.

Stuff it with wadding.

For the external handle of the hook:
(if you prefer to have a uniform handle, you could repeat the instructions of the internal handle. I preferred doing it slightly differently, but you can choose according to your taste!)
use the black spun
direct  6 s.c. into the magic circle
1st circle: 6 inc. (12)
2nd circle: *1 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (18)
3rd circle: *2 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (24)
4th circle: *3 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (30)
5th circle: 30 s.c. (30)
6th circle: *4 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (36)
7th circle: 36 s.c. (36)
8th circle: *5 s.c.; 1 inc.* repeat 6 times  (42)
from 9th to 12th circle: 42 s.c. (42)
close the point.

Cut the spun at 50 cms for stitching the external part of the handle to the internal.

Now you have all the parts ready, to be assembled together.

I advise you to first stitch the hook to the external handle, then the two assembled parts are to be stitched to the internal handle and at the end, stitch the handle from inside but try to pass the stitches to the external end near the hook in a way that everything is held well together.
Now all you need is a parrot on your shoulders and your Captain Crochet Hook costume is ready!!!
